Youth & Women’s Hunt Video

While a picture might be worth a thousand words, this short video might just leave you speechless. Thanks to our friends at Rock Road Creative for filming our hunt and family fun day and then putting together this outstanding video that does a great job of showing why we do what we do. Enjoy!

Annual Hunt & Family Fun Day Primer

We have a date set for one of our chapter’s favorite events of the year.

The Annual “Rick Funk” Memorial Youth & Women’s Hunt and Family Fun Day will take place on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Eckman’s Hunting Preserve will once again host this popular event. If you’re not familiar with Eckman’s place, you’ll find it at 988 E. 1800 Road, Baldwin City, Kansas about 30 minutes west of Lenexa.

Youth Hunt activities will be held for youth hunters between 12 and 15 years old. Each youth is required to have an adult sponsor and Hunter Safety Certificate. Women’s Hunt activities will also be offered to women with limited hunting experience.

The hunt is sponsored by the local Johnson County Chapter 706 at no cost to hunters, with the Chapter providing the facility, birds, dogs and volunteers. For attending, all youth will receive a membership and subscription to Pheasants Forever Ringnecks magazine.

This event has been a great success in the past! For each hunter, the day will start with a hunter safety refresher, warm-up clays and then a 1-2 hour hunt including two pheasants each. After the hunt, they will have time to chat with other hunters, shoot additional clays and enjoy the Family Fun Activities. Lunch will be provided and prizes will be raffled to the youth hunters present during lunch. To continue our hunting heritage, all youth participants will be eligible for the a shotgun that will be raffled at the youth hunt.

In addition to the hunt, we’ll host the following family fun activities:

– Target Shooting
– Shooting Instruction by John Francis Wing & Clay’s Instructor
– Lunch from the grill with hotdogs and hamburgers
– Raffles and prizes
– Geocaching
– Casting Challenges
– Archery Range (sponsored by T.H.E. Archery Club)
– Pellet Gun shooting (sponsored by T.H.E. Archery Club)

Even if you or your kids are not eligible to hunt, we bet that you know someone who is. A neighbor kid, a teen at church, the son or daughter of a co-worker, a niece or nephew. This event is totally free, but we guarantee that the memories you will make and the bonds that you will form are totally priceless.

Registration forms are available on our website. Even though the hunt is still a couple of months away, space is limited, so email us today to confirm your spot for this special, once a year opportunity.

For information on how you can help support this or any of our programs please contact our hunt coordinator, Jim Milazzo at (913) 636-3369.
